Welcome

There is no end to the ways in which life can be challenging. Fortunately, we humans have an unlimited capacity to grow, to recover, to pick ourselves up and move on. We also have a powerful drive to maximize our lives, to learn how to be who we want to be in the world.

When done well, therapy helps bring intention to your life. Whether you are struggling or simply wanting to grow, you can learn to tap into your own formidable resources, rediscover your innate health and wholeness, and create a rich and meaningful life. It is my mission and privilege to assist others in this remarkable process.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years experience working with adults, couples and groups. I am a seasoned provider of various evidence-based treatments with particular expertise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is an established, evidence-based therapy shown to be an effective treatment for difficulties ranging from anxiety and depression, to addiction, chronic pain and simply feeling stuck.(Please see resources page for more information on this highly-regarded therapy.)

Along with my clinical work, I am a national ACT Trainer and consultant, and have authored and co-authored three books on this well respected and cutting-edge approach.

"Darrah Westrup has unquestionably been the best consultant with whom I’ve worked in my 30+ years as a psychologist...

Her warmth, unconditional acceptance, encouragement and enthusiasm are contagious and have greatly increased my confidence and excitement as an ACT practitioner. She has helped me to greatly increase my ability to think, feel and BE present in this very exciting therapy. My clients have also benefitted greatly from her warm and wise guidance." -Michael Goldstein, PsyD, BCB

"Once in a while there is a unique contribution to psychotherapy. Even more rare is the grounding of that contribution in sound philosophy, on the one hand, and firm data on the other...

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy represents such an effort. In a truly creative leap forward, (ACT is) a new approach to behaviour change that is "must" for everyone in the field of psychotherapy.” David H. Barlow, PhD, ABPP Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry, Boston University, and Founder and Director Emeritus, Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders
